February 25, 2013- (Columbia, S.C.) –Registration is now open for the third annual South Carolina Transportation Distribution and Logistics (TDL) Summit: Bridging the Gap for Tomorrow’s Infrastructure which will take place in Columbia, S.C., on Thursday, March 14.

The South Carolina TDL Summit, being held at Seawell’s Banquet and Reception Center, will provide attendees with an in-depth look at the state’s infrastructure needs, strategies and latest industry trends as well as the opportunity to celebrate industry successes and discuss the critical issues that need to be solved to move our state forward.

The Summit will feature a panel discussion about the Greer Inland Port and the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF) and will include Jim Newsome, CEO of the SC Ports Authority, as well as representatives from BMW Manufacturing Co., SC Public Railways, and Norfolk Southern. South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt is scheduled to address the group as well as South Carolina Department of Transportation Secretary Robert St. Onge, who
will give an update on the status of the SC Multimodal Transportation Plan. In addition, Rebecca Brewster, President and COO of the American Transportation Research Institute, will discuss the impact of the trucking industry on the supply

“The transportation, distribution and logistics network in South Carolina has a major impact on our state’s economic growth,” said TDL Council member, South Carolina Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt. “I’m looking forward to building on the dialogue and actions that resulted from last year’s TDL Summit and identifying solutions that will help us bridge the
gap as we plan for the future,” he added.

The South Carolina TDL Summit will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at the Seawell’s Banquet & Reception Center at 1125 Rosewood Drive and is currently sponsored by MeadWestvaco and BMW Manufacturing Co. Early Registration for the South Carolina TDL Summit is $100 per person until March 7th and includes lunch.
